Having a job that we like and that makes us feel fulfilled with ourselves is one of the keys for many people when it comes to finding happiness. But this on many occasions can become a double-edged sword. If we work in a company where we love what we do but then the environment with our colleagues is not good, it is useless.

When we are starting in the world of work it is difficult for them to take us seriously from day one, but usually little by little we will earn the respect of our colleagues and bosses with our work and our effort. But what if the moment when they start taking us seriously at work never comes ?

That they begin to take us seriously in our work is something fundamental that, above all, we have to win ourselves with our attitude and our way of working. Here are some tips on what to do if we want to earn the respect of our colleagues at work.

1. Seriousness

When we refer to seriousness, we are not talking about sitting in our chair or being in our workplace with a straight face and without blinking at all times. When we talk about seriousness, we talk about showing a serious attitude with your work, that you value everything you do. Always show that you are giving your best and that you want to keep doing it. You can also make a joke or a joke from time to time, if the situation allows.

2. Trust

To be respected at work, you have to show confidence in the activities you do. If you are hired for that company it is because you have undergone a selection process among many other people and you have been chosen. That is why you are more than qualified to work in this company , so you have to trust yourself and your abilities and prove it to your bosses and your colleagues.

3. Security

For them to start taking you seriously, you have to be sure of what you do. If, for example, you have to give a speech at a meeting or you want to sell your boss an idea, the first thing you have to do is prepare everything to the smallest detail. This will make you feel sure of yourself and you will show it to the rest that seeing your attitude towards the situation they will begin to respect you.

4. Get informed

Keeping you informed of the latest news and movements that arise in the company and in the sector in which you work will make others see you with different eyes. This is a direct way to earn the respect of your colleagues, since you will be able to intervene in the conversations in a coherent way and, you may even inform them of the juiciest news in the sector yourself.

5. Humility.

Although we have to be sure of ourselves and trust our possibilities, we also have to be a bit humble. People who are arrogant and haughty are not welcomed anywhere, so you have to show a little humility and know that there are things in which you have to improve little by little. Having a balance between security and humility is going to make you more human and it is going to make you start to be taken seriously and that your colleagues have respect for you.

Remember that work, after all, is work and making a good impression, showing yourself polite and above all showing that you want to do your best and keep improving are the keys to being respected.
