To know whether or not you are a resident person, you need to know what the characteristics of this type of person are . Resident people are those who are able to face adversity with integrity and learn from the most adverse circumstances. There are people who vary in their coping skills when faced with a crisis, but there are some key characteristics of people’s resilience.

Many of these skills can be developed and strengthened, so you can improve your ability to deal with life’s setbacks.

Resilient people

Resilient people are those people who are aware of situations, their own emotional reactions and the behavior of those around them. To manage feelings, it is essential to understand what is causing them and why. By staying mindful, resilient people can stay in control of a situation and think of new ways to approach problems.

Another characteristic of resilience is the understanding that life is full of challenges. While we cannot avoid many of these problems, we can remain open, flexible, and willing to adapt to change.

If you want to know if you really are a resistant person or not, then you should assess whether you really have (or not) coping skills. In the event that you do not have them, it will be important that you work on it in case you want to be more resilient in your life.

Sense of control

Do you perceive that you are in control of your life or that it is slipping out of your hands? Do you blame yourself excessively for outside sources and any problems you may have? In general, resilient people tend to have what psychologists call: an internal place of control.

The actions you take will affect the outcome of an event. Of course, some factors are simply beyond our personal control, such as natural disasters. While we may be able to blame external causes, it is important to feel that we have the power to make decisions that will affect our situation, our ability to cope, and our future.

Strong problem solving skills

Problem solving skills are essential for resilient people. When a crisis arises, resilient people can identify the solution that will lead to a safe outcome. In dangerous situations, people sometimes develop tunnel vision. They don’t take into account important details or take advantage of opportunities. Resilient individuals , on the other hand, can calmly and rationally look at the problem and envision a successful solution.

Strong social connections

When it comes to a problem, it is important to have people who can offer support. Talking about the challenges you face can be a great way to gain perspective, seek new solutions, or simply express your emotions.  The friends , relatives, co-workers and support groups Inernet may be potential sources of social connectivity.

Identifying yourself as a survivor, not a victim

When it comes to a potential crisis, it is essential to see yourself as a survivor. Avoid thinking like a victim of circumstance and instead look for ways to solve the problem. While the situation may be unavoidable, you can still stay focused on a positive outcome .

Being able to ask for help

While being resourceful is an important part of resilience, knowing when to ask for help is also essential. During a crisis, people can benefit from the help of specially trained crisis counselors and psychologists. Other potential sources of assistance include: books, positive support communities on the Internet , support groups, and psychotherapy.

If you want to be a more resilient person, you must first know that you can achieve it because it is a characteristic that you can learn and even develop.
