Positive Psychology is a relatively new branch of psychology that takes a break from focusing on pathologies and instead studies what makes life meaningful, what brings happiness, and what promotes good mental health. Research and thinking in positive psychology hold that there are three paths we take to feel good and create happiness in our lives: pleasures, rewards, and meaningful activities. There are three fundamental aspects: pleasure, gratification and meaningful activities.


Pleasures, according to the positive approach to psychology, are activities that delight the senses, make us feel better easily and in the moment, and do not require any effort to enjoy. The act of eating food that you like is a pleasure, you feel good and anyone can enjoy it.  (The downside of pleasures is that their effectiveness diminishes over time or if they are enjoyed too often.)

Rewards are activities that use strengths, challenge us in the right way and lead us to the experience of flow or ‘flow’. Rewards are not as easy as pleasures, they require a bit of effort, but their impact grows with use, rather than diminishing (as is the case with pleasures).

Much of what creates a healthy love relationship can be classified in the realm of gratification: listening well, being kind to others, and doing good things for and for our loved ones. That is not to say that love is just great gratification and that all gratifications are based on love, but there is definitely a correlation to this. 

Significant activities

When you commit to activities that promote the meaning of life, you can achieve the greatest feelings of satisfaction, both professionally and personally. This can be applied to spirituality, meditation, or other activities that help you grow internally.

These three approaches will help you to have a better frame of mind and a positive effect on your life in general matters. You will be able to better handle the stress in your life. You will be able to notice the best opportunities in your life, have your own emotional and personal resources and ultimately to be better with your life and with yourself.

If you think that these three things are too complicated to do in your life because you have little time or responsibilities are absorbing you, then you can consider the following:

    • Meditate It’s a great way to relieve stress and have benefits for your physical and mental health.
    • Eat well. Worry about having a good diet, so you can balance your mind and body.
    • Make new friends. Interactions with other people will make you grow as a person. Being open to new people and experiences is rewarding and will make you feel good.
    • Learn new things. It is never too late to learn new things and open your mind to new knowledge.
  • Try things you don’t know how to do. This means challenging your comfort zone and diving into learning something new that is practical.

from now on you can feel much better thanks to positive psychology. You can buy self-help books that have Positive Psychology as the protagonist, in this way you can become an expert and apply it in your daily life. When positive psychology is a part of your life, almost automatically, your thoughts will be transformed and your life will take a 180ºC turn, for the better!
