When a year is about to close or when a new one opens, one always takes stock of the mistakes in life that have been made. Errors that have undoubtedly taught you things and you have learned how to improve yourself, but in reality, they are mistakes that if you do not commit more, it will be much better for your quality of life.

We all make mistakes throughout the year, although we promise ourselves that we will not continue to do the same. We want to get better every year, but sometimes it can be hard to figure out exactly how to do it. Here are some mistakes that we should all avoid repeating and now that you are aware of them, it will be easier for you to avoid them.

Stay in your comfort zone

It’s so easy to continue doing only things that we know won’t hurt us … We have to realize that not everything is going to hurt us . Even if they do, it’s better to hurt yourself because you tried something new than to wonder what it would have been like if you had. Get out there and try something you’ve always been too afraid to do.  You never know what wonderful things could come out of it.

Compare yourself with others

We need to stop comparing ourselves to people we will never be. There is absolutely nothing positive that can come from trying to be someone you are not. There is no use trying to be something other than the best version of yourself. Compare yourself only to yourself because it is healthy to want to be the best version of yourself. Don’t look at models to wish you were like them.  When you see photos of models in magazines, even the women and men in those photos don’t look like themselves in real life … There is no Photoshop in reality.

Humiliate you

There are always millions of people ready to bring us down. We shouldn’t help them with that. If we are not on our side, who will be? Who cares if you don’t look like your version of Photoshop? No one expects you to look like this besides yourself. There are so many things about you that are beautiful, but you have to be the one to create it. If you constantly humiliate yourself, how are you going to be able to rebuild yourself?

Trust others for your confirmation

This goes along with humiliating you.  You have to be the one to get stronger instead of knocking yourself down. You also can’t trust other people to validate your thoughts and feelings, not just about yourself, but also about your ideas about the world. By relying on other people for validation, you are putting yourself and your emotions in their hands. No one should be able to have this power over you.

Regret bad decisions

We all make foolish decisions at some point. We are all human, and we will all do some things that we wish we hadn’t done. Just because you made a decision that you didn’t like doesn’t make you a bad person. Every bad decision you have made in your life is part of your story. The best part of your story is that it is in the past. Don’t give your past so much power and influence in your present. You always have to make better decisions.

Trusting the wrong people

Trust is something very important and sacred. You cannot give something so special to anyone. It’s time you stopped trusting that everyone will be on your side. The reality is that not everyone in your life will be there for the right reasons. It’s just a part of life and it doesn’t say anything about you. Wanting to trust people is not a bad thing. It means that you are open to new people and new experiences. It is a positive thing and people can choose to abuse.

Reaching goals for other people

The only person you should achieve your goals for should be yourself.  These goals should be what you want to achieve. These should not be goals that others propose to you. What you really need to do is set goals for yourself and keep quiet about them. When you achieve these goals, that’s when you can clap your hands.

This is how you can really gain confidence in yourself. You really grow as a person when you start to accomplish things for yourself rather than because other people expect you to. There is still plenty of time to make new mistakes in life, but you will never experience them unless you try. These mistakes that we make every year are easy to erase and will not be the end of the world.
