Stress is quite common in anyone’s life. But being stressed is not the same as understanding stressors. Stressors are situations that are experienced as a perceived threat to well-being or position in life, when the challenge of dealing with it outweighs the available resources perceived by the person.

When one encounters stressors, it is normal for stress responses to be triggered in the body and a series of physical changes take place that allow the person to enter “fight or flight” mode. When many people talk about stress in their lives, they may be talking about stressors. These factors lead to the body experiencing stress and experiencing this sensation. The important thing to remember is that stressors are always the cause of stress.

What situations become stressful?

That can vary from person to person. While some things tend to stress many people – job demands, relationship conflicts , too tight a schedule – not all potential stressors cause stress for everyone. That is, we all have a unique set of resources, understanding of the world, and way of perceiving things. What seems like a threat to one person may be perceived as a challenge to another.

Sometimes these differences can go unnoticed; It might not occur to you that a trip to the mall is a stressor, but for someone who hates crowds and shopping, an afternoon at the mall can be a major stressor. Even someone who enjoys shopping but has an introverted nature may be stressed out by a long shopping trip that would be a pleasant or even exhilarating experience for someone who has an outgoing personality . You can even be one of those people who hates crowds and you come home from a shopping trip without realizing why you’re feeling stressed.

Other times, you can notice and even change if something is bothering you as a stressor or as a simple experience in your day. You can choose to see things differently, a technique psychologists know as cognitive reappraisal, and you can strengthen yourself by being more aware of what you can control in the situation. You can increase your ability to resist stress so there is less in your life. Things are experienced as stressful or not. You can work to eliminate stressors in your life and avoid or reduce them.

Handling the death throes of your life

It is not practical to remove all stress from your life, because in theory a little stress can be motivating. It’s actually good for you, but it’s important to minimize stressors in your life and deal with the stress you’re experiencing, known as stress management.

An important first step is to begin to think of stress as something that you can learn to control like you could control any other problem. Some specific resources to manage specific stress, you can consider: Main causes of stress: Are you stressed by the same things that are thickening for most people?

    • Work stress
    • Stress in relationships
  • Manage stress in a busy life

Start managing stressors today by identifying the things that cause you stress in “real time,” that is, become aware of how you feel throughout the day by paying attention to your body and mind. If there is something that you fear in your life, start thinking why, solve the problems you can, and develop habits for greater resilience when you cannot organize things the way you prefer. Ultimately, any minimized stress is good for you, as long as it doesn’t affect you too emotionally.
