The importance of reminding yourself of good things and positively reinforcing yourself

How many times have you told yourself lately how cool you are? Probably less than you should . You have to remember your good qualities, both on your good days and your not so good ones. When we have so many aspects of our lives trying to fall apart, we need to be the ones to rebuild ourselves. We need to learn to love ourselves, not in spite of our shortcomings , but for them.

Reminding yourself that you are great should not seem absurd or egomaniacal, it is a way of reminding you that you deserve the best. Therefore, if you ever forget how to do it, we are going to tell you how you can remind yourself every day how wonderful you are and that you smile … because your smile brightens anyone’s day!

Write yourself love notes

One of the first things you have to learn about yourself is that you may be getting discouraged without realizing it. It is possible that you speak to yourself and have reached the point of hating yourself. If this happens to you, start writing little positive notes to yourself and put it in random places like your bedroom or kitchen .

When you start to find them once you have forgotten that you wrote them, you will realize how good they feel. Your days will shine a little brighter. You may feel weird writing love notes to yourself, but finding them when you really need something to enhance your day makes it all worth it .

Set reminders on your phone to activate throughout the month

Setting up random alerts on your phone to go off all month by sending you compliments is an easy thing you can do. Most of the time, we forget what we said and when we made the alert to sound. Looking down at your phone and seeing a message from you telling you how good you look or that you can get over whatever you are going through can really improve your day.

Write compliments on sticky notes and hang them on your mirror

This is another thing that may seem silly.  Once again, we promise it will be worth it when you wake up in the morning to brush your teeth and see a note telling you how beautiful you look. Even if you don’t believe it, you can’t help but smile.

Even if you are not consciously looking at these messages , you are still perceiving them. The messages will get somewhere and improve your mood. There are so many things that we unconsciously do to fall apart. Having something that unconsciously builds us good feelings will never hurt.

Reward yourself

We all feel very proud of ourselves at certain times, like when we get a good grade on a test we study hard for or a promotion at work. 

It can also be something as simple as being proud of yourself for getting out of bed when you feel like you physically can’t. There are so many small victories in our lives that we must learn to take it into account.

When you are proud of yourself, reward yourself by doing something that makes you happy .  If you really wanted to scold someone but controlled yourself, you deserve a reward. We all know how difficult it is to do that. If you really like sweets, get something sweet as a reward. We don’t always have to give ourselves a physical reward, praise is good enough.

There is always room for positivity in our lives.  Even small victories must be made important so that we can ensure some happiness. With all the negatives around us, we need to be our own ” emotional coach .” Little by little you will realize how your days are more beautiful and you will enjoy yourself and your surroundings. You’re great!
