How to overcome the fear of flying

The first thing we have to know is that the fear of flying is overcome by facing it. Although, it is good to mentalize and analyze our phobia, the truth is that this alone will not be enough, even if it is a big step. Overcoming aerophobia, like any other fear, takes time and patience . Therefore, we want to offer you some useful tips to help you face a journey by plane.

One of the first tips that experts give us regarding aerophobia is that we read and study both our fear and basic concepts of flying by plane, since the more we know about our fear, the more possibilities we will have to overcome it. “We are afraid of what we do not know or have not experienced”

If we have already psyched ourselves to fly, and we have also studied our case, spoken with specialists, therapists, and others … then the time will have come to get on the plane.

The best thing is to try to sleep, so that the bad drink, passes as soon as possible. If we organize our trip well, the best option will be to choose a direct and night flight, which helps us fall asleep. We can also try a mask, sleeping pills, and a good classical music playlist, and in a few minutes we will be in the arms of morpheus.

If, on the other hand, we have chosen a daytime flight, or we simply do not feel like sleeping, we can follow other indications; If we can choose a seat, the best one will be the one that is near the wings and in the aisle , since in the areas where they are located in the wings is where there is greater stability, and being seated near the aisle will help us calm down.

Once we are seated, a recommended option is to do things that absorb all our attention , what if we see a series that we have pending, or that book that we never get to read, surely we end up exhorted in it and forget our flight.

If at the last minute we forgot to pick up that book, we can start a conversation with our neighbor in the seat, if we are lucky enough to have gotten along with that nice boy, the flight will be much more bearable. And if not, we can always have a drink or two on board, to help us cope with the flight and overcome our fear.

Remember, with practice and patience you will end up loving flying by plane. Now it only remains to choose your next destination.
